A sky-to-vantage migration traceable across three decades: hand-painted radiating vortex skies dwarfing a small ground-level figure (The Thinker, After Turner, Antiquity, Nature vs Nurture, 1993-96) give way to real photographed flat-but-vast skies compressing the city into a thin strip (Centraal Station Boats, 2007), which give way to full orbital 'overview effect' vantage with no sky at all — the artist now occupies the position the sky once held (Deutsche Stadt, 2021). Skate City re-grounds that orbital vantage in personally known, lived spots rather than abstract civic ones, and its planned AR layer — zooming from full composite down to a single spot's ground-level skate video — re-performs the entire 32-year migration in miniature, on demand, for the viewer.
