World War One (2022), and by extension World War Two and Vietnam, mark the first documented return of the Art Collision 'unrepeated hybrid mode' — visible composited photograph and visible hand-worked paint coexisting on one surface — in over 20 years. Where Art Collision's digital compositing erased seams to create a false continuity that never existed, the Mediums of War paintings keep every photo-fragment discrete and legible: paint does the coherence-work that Photoshop once did, without hiding the seams. Recognized only now, through the archive process itself, not at time of making.
