Arguing with the classical canon
The overlooked birth of civilization — a recurring argument with the classical canon, first staged formally in Antiquity's ghost-white, unrendered Acropolis and continued directly in Education's nine-panel dream grid, where the tower of classical education is elevated but destabilized (fisheye/pedestal distortion), while a spired citadel and a pyramid-mountain stand for the older or larger civilizations left out of the 'birth of civilization' story. Rooted in reading that began around the same time as Color Theory (1995) and Goethe's Zur Farbenlehre, whose plus/minus color-emotion logic underlies the palette split between the two structures. The question at the center — 'what is the birth of civilization if not everything' — began as a seed at 22 and has deepened with age since.
