Recognized August 10, 2026
Ignorance named, then enacted: Altar of Ignorance (1993) names facing the unknown directly, in its title and imagery, at the very start of the OG Oil Paintings run. Antiquity, painted three years later at the technical high point of the same self-taught period, enacts the same refusal formally — a ghost-white, deliberately unrendered Acropolis, an aesthetic refusal rather than a technical failure. Both surface the same undercurrent that would, not long after, lead the artist to leave for Europe — not causally, but as two points drawing on the same source years apart. Surfaced in dialogue during the Altar of Ignorance session, 2026-08-10; not consciously connected by the artist beforehand.
